Bosses & Extremis threats
Auroch’s biggest fights are built around faction pressure, not just a health bar. This dossier records what is confirmed about each named boss, what the encounter asks you to prepare, and which details are still hidden behind launch.

A boss fight in Warhammer Survivors is a crowd problem with a centrepiece. The named threat matters, but the run usually ends because the adds, hazards or a second elite cut off the escape route while you stare at the health bar.
What is an Extremis Boss?
Auroch introduced Extremis Bosses as the game’s major named encounters. Each enemy faction has its own Extremis Boss, and the official material says these fights require more than a fancy array of evolved weapons. The Steam page namesGhazghkull and the Great Unclean One among the mightiest monsters; the October demo includes the Norn Emissary.
The exact phase rules, boss HP and enrage timers are unpublished. That is why this page separates known mechanicsfrom reasonable preparation. If a launch-day guide gives you a precise boss HP number without a source, treat it with suspicion.
Confirmed: every faction has an Extremis Boss. Not confirmed: the full boss list, phase counts, immunities or exact arena timing.
Ghazghkull Mag Uruk Thraka
The first Extremis Boss revealed, Ghazghkull stomps in with the fury of Gork and Mork and brings mobs of Boyz in a great Waaagh! He is tied to the Ork Stronghold and the Ork faction’s pressure mechanics. The Waaagh! can spawn more Orks and make them faster and stronger, so the fight is not only about the Warboss.
Makari, Ghazghkull’s banner-grot, is described as hard to find and keep down; Auroch hints that he “might just hold a piece of the puzzle” to stopping the Waaagh! That is not a confirmed kill order. It is a lead worth watching in the launch fight, especially if the add pressure refuses to settle.
Preparation
- Bring a reliable area clear. The Boyz are part of the boss encounter, not optional scenery.
- Keep lateral movement available for the Waaagh! surge; a straight retreat lets the mob compress behind you.
- Hold a defensive upgrade for the add flood rather than spending every slot on boss damage.
- Watch for Makari if the Waaagh! persists. His role is unconfirmed, but the official hint is deliberate.
Do not copy a phase list yet. Auroch has not published Ghazghkull’s attack sequence. Any “best boss build” claiming exact immunity windows is ahead of the public evidence.
Norn Emissary
The Norn Emissary is the Extremis Boss encountered in the October demo. IGN’s hands-on confirms the encounter but does not publish a full move set. The practical lesson from the demo is the same one that applies to the Tyranid faction:Synapse and the surrounding brood can matter as much as the boss’s own attacks.
Treat the Norn fight as a sustained positioning test. Clear a pocket before committing, keep the boss inside your strongest overlapping attack area and move laterally rather than retreating in a straight line. If the arena fills with lesser bioforms, the boss is not the only thing doing damage.
Preparation
- Evolve one reliable area weapon before the encounter instead of spreading upgrades across four projects.
- Keep a defensive or movement tool for the moment the adds close the pocket.
- Use the demo builds as a starting point, not a fixed answer; the Norn’s launch balance may differ.
Vizzik Skour, Prophet of the Horned Rat
Vizzik Skour is named on the Steam page as a huge, screen-filling Skaven boss. Auroch has not published the stage, phase structure or exact mechanics. The Skaven faction gives us the surrounding context: Vermintide lines, Ratling Gunner hazard zones, Acolyte Globadier poison and the Bell of Doom’s Warded buff can all complicate the arena before the boss itself demands attention.
Until the fight is public, prepare for a crowded screen. A build that only handles one large target will struggle if the Prophet brings the Skaven toolkit with him. Keep area coverage, break the Bell when it appears and preserve a lateral exit from the hazard zones.
Preparation
- Bring area coverage for Vermintide and Clanrat pressure, plus focused damage for the boss.
- Kill or avoid the Bell of Doom instead of attacking Warded Skaven through the buff.
- Do not stand in Globadier clouds to keep a damage window open.
- Re-check the update log after launch for the encounter details.
Great Unclean One
The Great Unclean One is named on the Steam page among the mightiest monsters in the game. Auroch’s FAQ also mentions “terrifying duels with Extremis Bosses such as Ghazghkull and the Great Unclean One.” The exact universe, stage and move list have not been announced.
The surrounding Nurgle and Death Guard material points to poison pressure, resilient bodies and area denial. A build that relies entirely on short-range burst may struggle if the fight adds fog or damage-over-time effects. Keep a recovery option and a clean escape lane in the plan.
Preparation
- Respect poison: the Death Guard’s Blight-haulers and Malignifiers already establish that hazard language.
- Bring sustained damage if the boss proves resistant to a single burst window.
- Keep a route out of stationary fog instead of fighting inside it.
Boss preparation checklist
- One finished weapon. A completed evolution or a fully committed base weapon beats four half-built ideas.
- One answer to adds. Area clear is not optional when the boss brings a faction with it.
- One escape tool. Movement speed, a defensive passive or a crowd-control pick-up that creates space.
- One recovery layer. Poison, ranged chip and hazard zones all erode health before the boss commits.
- A clean arena. Clear a pocket before the boss arrives and keep the fight away from the edge.
For the surrounding enemies, use the bestiary. For status interactions, read thestatus effect guide. For a run plan, open the run planner.
